Volunteers welcoming visitors to Glasgow
Service to the Games

Serving
the City.
Welcoming the World.

The Commonwealth Games are about more than sport. They are about people, celebration, movement, and shared experience. As Glasgow welcomes the world in 2026, Run the Race Glasgow wants the Church to be present in ways that are practical, compassionate, and visible.

On the Ground

A City Serving Together

For us, "Service to the Games" means practical love in action. It means churches and volunteers showing up in places where people gather, creating spaces of rest, joy, welcome, and support.

Some acts of service will be highly visible, while others will happen quietly in the background — but all of them matter.

What Service Looks Like

Service takes many forms — from quiet acts of kindness to vibrant moments of welcome. Across the city, churches and volunteers will create spaces of rest, joy, and connection, each one offering a glimpse of God's love in action.

The Heart of It

Why it Matters

When people visit Glasgow, they will remember more than medals and results. They will remember the atmosphere, the welcome, and the kindness they encountered along the way.

Our prayer is that through practical service, people will experience something of God's love in the middle of a major international event. Every cup of tea, every bottle of water, every word of encouragement, every helpful conversation, and every act of generosity becomes part of that witness.

Take Action

Help us show the warmth, kindness, and love that define our city. Whether by volunteering, offering your church space, giving financially, or praying, your support matters.
